CERTIFIED FINANCIAL PLANNER CERTIFIED FINANCIAL PLANNERor CFP certification is a globally accepted standard in Financial Planning. CFP certification is a job-oriented program encompassing financial advisory in various domains including banking, insurance, asset management and taxation. In India, over 25,000 students are undergoing the CFP Certification. CFP professionals are sought after by leading banks, both public and private, mutual funds, insurance companies, etc. This program is recognized in 24 countries and has cross-border policy as well. There are over 1,40,000 CFP professionals world-wide. FPSB India is the affiliate body in India and is a standards setting body for Financial Planners. Recently, Career cast has rated Financial Planner amongst Top 5 jobs. CFP certification has been rated as the Gold standard in Financial Planning by the Wall Street Journal. The course includes 5 exams, four exams of 2-hour duration each: 1. Risk Analysis & Insurance Planning 2. Retirement Planning & Employee Benefits 3. Investment Planning 4. Tax Planning & Estate Planning The above are followed by a 4-hour final exam, Advanced Financial Planning. Candidates can register with Higher Secondary (10+2) qualification. Graduation is the eligibility for the award of CFP certification. A prior experience of 3 years in financial services is also a criterion for award of CFP certification, but is not necessary at the examination stage. A person having certain professional qualifications (CA/CFA/MBA-Finance/IIBF-Advanced Wealth Management/post-graduate in Mathematics, Statistics, Economics, Finance, et al) and a prior 3-year financial services experience is eligible to skip 4 basic exams and attempt final exam directly.
